Fall!

(Disclaimer: It’s quite possible that I feel the same way about the Fall season at this point in the Summer, as I do about Summer at this point in the Spring.)

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall, and I feel incredible about it. In fact, I’m more excited than I’ve ever been (I think) about the season we’re heading into! Isn’t it wonderful that God gave us the different seasons? Imagine a world that was all Summer. Ok, now imagine all Fall, or Winter, or Spring. What a creative God we fellowship with.

At Dayspring, we’re about to enter a brand-new season together, as we move into our new space. There’s a buzzing excitement in our conversations that we’ve never experienced before.

Tomorrow (it’s supposed to be cool) – wake up, grab your coffee (or prudish tea) and sit outside in the new season. Take time to experience God’s creativity.

It’s been a long, hot, dry summer! My azaleas are wilted almost every day and we have long since given up on watering the grass in the yard! I don’t know if there is enough water to save it! I have even started driving along and watching the horizon to see if there are any smoke clouds from the wildfires, too. Checking to see if they are close to homes of friends and family.

I can’t imagine being a volunteer firefighter right now. Working a normal day job then being called out, at all times, to fight fires not knowing if there will be enough materials or budget to make sure everything is taken care of. It must be physically exhausting as well as emotionally exhausting.

I don’t know if words are enough to let them know how much we appreciate their time and efforts so remember to pray for our firefighters and first responders. Make sure they know how much you appreciate them and pray for their safety, and while you are praying…. remember to ask for rain, too!

Isa 58:11- The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Johnny standing in the foyer of the church, looking at a large plaque that hung there. After the young man of seven had stood there for some time, the pastor walked up beside him and said quietly,

“Good morning, son.”

“Good morning, Pastor,” replied the youngster, not taking his eyes off the plaque. “Can I ask you, Sir, what is this for? Why are all these names listed on here?”

“Well, son, these are all the people who have died in the service,” replied the pastor. Soberly, they stood together, staring up at the large plaque.

Little Johnny’s voice barely broke the silence when he asked quietly, “Which one, Sir, the 9:30 or the 11:00?

This is an exciting time in the life of Dayspring. By signing up for one of the new volunteer positions, you are joining Dayspring in renewing our commitment to reach our community for Christ. As we move into this new space, we will suddenly have new tools and resources with which to accomplish this goal. Though we will soon have physical walls, we will remain a Church without walls in this sense.
