Loving Life

I love older people. Growing up, my Grandma would take me dancing in our small town at the fairgrounds with all her buddies once a month. I had so much fun and that’s where I learned the two-step, waltz, cha-cha, and other dances which I don’t remember the names to. I miss that so much. She passed away when I was 13 but my love for the older people and her friends kept on going. I enjoyed being around them, hearing their testimonies and just seeing the joy they had for life.

My Mom forwarded me this link to this video and she shares the same love for older people as I do. She’s more dedicated than I by taking her free time, lunch hour, etc. to stop by the nursing home or a shut-in that she knows in the community just to say hi and to let them know she cares.

When I watch this video, my eyes tear up (call it pregnancy hormones or fond memories of joy with my Grandma) but I hope when I am their age, I have the same bounce and love for life.

Fran & Marlow Cowan walked into the lobby at the Mayo Clinic and spotted a piano and began entertaining everyone in the place. They have been married for 62 years and he is almost 90!
