Do you have plans next Saturday night?
If you don’t (or even if you do and you want some better ones!), consider joining Hunger For Love at their annual Christmas party under the Gentry bridge on Valentine St. in downtown Tyler. The guys at Hunger For Love will be serving a Christmas feast to our homeless and under-resourced neighbors, performing Christmas tunes all night, and handing out toys to kids via the real live Santa Claus.
If you and your family have never been to Christmas Under The Bridge, then this year is an excellent first time. We’re expecting the biggest turn-out yet–close to 1,000 people will be celebrating the birth of Christ together! Come and hang out with us. It’s a great opportunity to have conversations with your family about serving those who are less fortunate than us, and about the spirit behind Christmas.
Interested in helping Hunger For Love pull off this event? All the volunteer slots for dinner-servers are full, but they still need help setting up and cleaning up the event. They are especially looking for some man-power to handle tables and chairs for this many people, and some decorators to make the tables look pretty and add some life to donated Christmas trees. No need to RSVP–just show up under the bridge around 2 pm to help. Bring any leftover Christmas decorations you might want us to use. If you’re interested in cleaning up, tear-down will begin sometime around 8.
If you have any questions about how to help, call Heidi Eslicker at 903-752-5282. Or just come on down and visit me under the volunteer tent! We hope we can share this truly special night with you.
