When I Met Jesus: Rob Funk

Many of us do not share our faith with others for fear of offense or because we just do not think our testimony will have an impact on others. When our story features God’s work in our lives and includes the truth and power of the scriptures it takes on a whole new dimension. It becomes a message of hope that contains a life-changing truth empowered by the Holy Spirit.

In the case of the Biblical story of Philip and the Ethiopian visitor, Philip’s testimony and explanation of the scriptures may have had an eternal impact on an entire nation. Jesus taught that the smallest seed (mustard) can grow into the largest tree. What prevents you from letting God use your testimony to change your world?

Questions for discussion:

  • What do you think was the main point of Matt’s message?
  • What about Rob’s story resonates with you, personally?
  • What does Philip’s interactions with the Ethiopian visitor teach us about sharing our story?
  • What obstacles prevent you from sharing your story with those in your sphere of influence?

Do something about it:

This week take a few moments to think about and write down your story. Look for scriptures or Bible stories that will help you better understand and explain God’s work in your life. Pray that God will provide you with an opportunity for you to share that story with someone you know.

Digging deeper:

Acts 8:26-40; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 3:15; John 1:39-41; Acts 9:22-27
